About the role
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee the daily finance operations while ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory reporting requirements for external stakeholders. Reporting to the General Manager – Finance, this position is located in Port Kembla, Wollongong, New South Wales. It offers an exceptional opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art R&D and Manufacturing facility, with the possibility of future expansion into North America, Southeast Asia, and Europe.
Role responsibilities
- Providing ongoing financial and business support with Cash Management and Expense Management processes;
- Collaborating with key stakeholders to offer financial support for operational decisions;
- Overseeing month-end and year-end reporting requirements;
- Ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory obligations;
- Responsible for Grant reporting and allocations;
- Oversee Accounts payable function;
- Collating and preparing Board reports;
- Reviewing operational performance at various levels, including products, customers, factories, and contracts;
- Developing standardized reports, dashboards, profitability analyses, KPIs, and metrics;
- Overarching responsibility for accounting systems, reporting systems, and data structures;
- Driving process improvements by reviewing existing processes and identifying areas for enhancement;
- Demonstrating strong contract management skills.
What you’ll bring
To succeed in this role, you will require the following.
- A graduate degree in a relevant discipline and a post-graduate qualification (e.g., CPA/CA) with over 7 years of relevant experience;
- Experience in implementing an ERP system such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite;
- Strong business acumen with the ability to partner with senior executives and drive change;
- Previous experience in preparing statutory financial reports (IFRS, US GAAP) and leveraging that experience to provide value and insights into the financial statements' preparation process;
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team and to establish effective relationships across all levels of staff;
- Experience in a manufacturing-environment is desirable.
