Position Responsibilities

  • Design and execute experiments to ensure the cell/stack meet the performance and reliability requirements
  • Interpret test results to provide the rest of the Hysata team feedback for product design
  • Characterise cells and perform validation tests to improve established procedures for assembly of electrochemical devices
  • Collaborate with team members to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues that arise
  • Be involved in data reviews to enable data driven learning
  • Provide input on SOPs and safety protocols for new and existing laboratory processes

To be successful you will ideally have

  • BS or advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in electrochemical science/testing and electrode material development/characterisation
  • Working knowledge of electrolysers, battery,or energy storage systems
  • Motivated, capable of working independently within a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Ability to adapt within a highly dynamic, fast-paced work environment
  • Experience in using statistical methods to guide product/process development decisions a plus
  • Fluency in Python, Matlab, or similar packages for analysing data is a plus

Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking a Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineer to work on multiple projects with direct responsibility for design and prototyping of manufacturing fixtures, processes, and tools. The ideal candidate will be highly innovative, with experience with CAD and fabrication methods (3D printing, machining, laser cutting, etc), and is comfortable with hands-on work. Familiarity in writing code to interface/control instruments will be useful. You will thrive in the fast paced start-up world where no two days are the same.     •   PFMEA, QA/QC, SOP, design and process validation
  • Contributed to product design and development through DFMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly), DFMEA, validation testing, materials selection, process technology selection
  • Skills in applying advanced manufacturing, automation, and digital technology to new/improved manufacturing solutions
  • Clear and open communication
  • Motivated, capable of working independently within a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Expertise beyond your field of qualification/degree – spanning mechanical, design, electrical and controls, robotics, materials science and technology

Position Responsibilities

  • Research, model, analyse, develop, design, and optimise  secure, reliable electric power systems and architecturesfor Hysata’s high-efficiency water electrolyser, including associated: 
    •  electrical/electronic systems,
    • components,
    • equipment,
    • networks,
    • control systems,
    • communication systems,
    • utility / customer interconnections (including meeting grid operator standards and requirements),
    • data collection / performance evaluation systems,
    • risk mitigation systems, and
    • cyber security systems,  
  • Develop and implement new techniques / methodologies /control systems for the integration of different energy resources at various points of consumption. 
  • Evaluate safety risks and use risk-analysis techniques to develop and implement mitigation measures to address potential failure modes and power system disruptions. 
  • Coordinate the selection, procurement, assembly, installation, commissioning, and monitoring of electric power systems, equipment, and components, for Hysata’s high-efficiency water electrolyser. 
  • Evaluate electrical designs (including interconnections and microgrid designs) and system integration plans for Hysata’s high-efficiency water electrolyser. 
  • Lead or mentor other power engineers in Hysata’s broader team. 

To be successful you will ideally have

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, or similar field  
  • 5+ years of experience in power engineering, preferably with associated experience in data management and analytics 
  • Project and team leadership experience 
  • Hands on experience with electric power engineering systems 
  • Ability to solve problems via a blend of creativity, clear communication, and good judgement  
  • Motivated, capable of working independently within a multi-disciplinary environment 
  • Ability to adapt within a highly dynamic, fast-paced work environment  
  • Experience with electrolysers, battery, or electrical energy storage systems a plus

  • Collaborate with team members to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues that arise

To be successful you will ideally have

  • A vocational or TAFE degree in Chemistry, Mechanical, Electrical, or similar field (preference for experience in Electrochemistry)
  • 2+ years of experience in device assembly and testing in an analytical or wet lab setting
  • Experience operating electrochemical test equipment such as Biologics, Arbin
  • Familiarity with electrical work like soldering and cable construction

  • Manage the machine shop ensuring proper machine function, inventory of raw materials, area safety and tidiness
  • Fabricate custom solutions (components and assemblies) for problems posed by the Hysata team, offering feedback on designs
  • Detail up drawings from CAD models produced by the group for internal and external fabrication
  • Be part of the training process of a growing team on equipment usage and shop best practices
  • Recommend and lead the installation of new tools/equipment to increase shop throughput
  • Provide input on SOPs and safety protocols for new and existing equipment

To be successful you will ideally have

  • 3+ years of experience working as a machinist or in a prototyping shop setting
  • Ability to program and run a CNC Mill
  • Working knowledge of work holding methods and fixturing
  • CAD/CAM knowledge
  • Able to interpret and produce technical drawings and GD&T Tolerancing
  • Comfortable working with plastics and metals
  • Motivated, capable of working independently within a multi-disciplinary environment, and able to solve commonly encountered problems

Role description 

We are seeking a Project Manager to work with the development team to create and manage our engineering projects.  You’ll be joining a team of smart, driven, collaborative and highly dedicated individuals who love solving engineering challenges and who are excited to be fighting the climate crisis.  You’ll work with the VP of Engineering and the development team to bring clarity and organization to concurrent development projects, ensuring their timely execution and coordinating their co-dependencies.

Position Responsibilities 

  • Work with the development team to create and manage the myriad of workstreams needed to develop our products, infrastructure and facilities and meet our schedule 
  • Identify pinch points/critical paths 
  • Work with the teams to develop means for reducing critical path length without adding risk 
  • Assess resource allocation and needs for additional team members, tools, and equipment 
  • Progress the development as expeditiously as possible 

To be successful you will ideally have 

  • Proven track record of managing and delivering successful projects, ideally in an R&D environment 
  • Proficiency with Excel  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project or similar project management software 
  • Ability to source quotes from suppliers 
  • Strategic thinking and ability to logically break down a problem 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills 
  • Certification in PRINCE2 or PMP
