Wollongong, Australia, 11 February 2025: Hysata today welcomed the passing of legislation in the Australian Senate that gives the green light to establish a hydrogen production tax incentive in Australia. The incentive is valued at AU$2/kg per kilogram of renewable hydrogen produced between 2027/28 and 2039/40 for up to 10 years per project.
Hysata CEO, Paul Barrett said:
“Passing of this legislation strengthens Australia’s hydrogen prospects and sends a positive signal to the rest of the world that hydrogen will be an important part of Australia’s clean energy future. Hydrogen can decarbonise Australian heavy industry and unlock export opportunities by using hydrogen as a chemical feedstock in the hard to abate sectors.
“With Hysata’s high efficiency electrolysers, Australia has the technology, capability, and now the beginnings of policy needed for Australia to be a competitive location for hydrogen production. We look forward to seeing the rollout of the Federal Government’s holistic hydrogen agenda, including Hydrogen Headstart and support to build sovereign capability in electrolyser manufacturing.
“Hysata’s high efficiency electrolysers manufactured in Australia will offer incredible advantages to the cost of green hydrogen production in Australia. Hysata’s industry-leading efficiency, simplified balance-of-system, and design for high-volume manufacturing creates an unmatched cost advantage for customers.
“Hysata looks forward to working closely with the government and broader industry as we redefine the economics of green hydrogen.”
